Gulab Jamun
Ingredients:
1 cup milk powder
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp ghee
1/4 cup milk
1 tbsp yogurt
Oil or ghee for frying
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
Sliced almonds or pistachios for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
Add the ghee and mix until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the milk and yogurt, and mix well until the mixture forms a smooth dough.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
In a separate pan, mix the sugar, water, and cardamom powder, and bring to a boil. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely.
Heat the oil or ghee in a deep frying pan.
Take a small amount of the dough and roll it into a smooth ball, about the size of a small cherry.
Fry the dough balls in the hot oil or ghee until golden brown.
Remove the fried dough balls from the oil and place them directly into the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for 1-2 hours.
Garnish with sliced almonds or pistachios (optional) before serving.
