Chicken Thali Recipe


Ingredients:

500g chicken, cut into small pieces

1 cup of Basmati rice

1 cup of lentils

1 onion, chopped

3 cloves of garlic, minced

1 tsp of ginger, grated

2 tomatoes, chopped

2 green chilies, chopped

1 tsp of cumin seeds

1 tsp of coriander powder

1 tsp of garam masala powder

Salt, to taste

2 tbsp of vegetable oil

2 cups of water

For serving:


Yogurt

Chutney

Sliced vegetables, like cucumber, tomato, and onion

Instructions:


Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 20 minutes.


Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.


Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes become soft.


Add chicken pieces, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.


In a separate pot, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add the soaked rice. Sauté the rice for a few minutes, then add 2 cups of water and salt. Cover the pot with a lid and cook until the rice is cooked and fluffy.


In another pot, add the soaked lentils and 4 cups of water. Cook the lentils until they become soft and mushy.


Once everything is cooked, assemble the thali by placing the chicken curry, rice, lentils, and sliced vegetables on a plate. Serve with yogurt and chutney on the side.
