Healthy Ragi Dosa Recipe

 Ragi Dosa

Ingredients:

1 cup ragi flour (finger millet flour)

1/2 cup rice flour

1/2 cup urad dal (skinned black lentils)

Salt to taste

Water, as needed

Oil or ghee for cooking

Optional Ingredients:

Chopped onions, tomatoes, or grated carrots (for a variation)

Chopped green chilies or ginger (for spiciness)

Chopped coriander leaves (for garnish)

Instructions:

Soak the urad dal in water for 4-5 hours. In a separate bowl, mix the ragi flour and rice flour together. Rinse the soaked urad dal and grind it into a smooth batter by adding a little water gradually. The batter should be fluffy and light.

Mix the urad dal batter with the ragi-rice flour mixture. Add salt to taste and mix well. Add water gradually to make a smooth batter of pouring consistency. The batter should not be too thick or too thin.

Cover the batter and let it ferment for 6-8 hours or overnight. Fermentation helps in making the dosas light and crisp.

Once the batter is fermented, give it a good stir. If it is too thick, you can add a little water to adjust the consistency.

Heat a non-stick dosa tawa or skillet over medium heat. Once the tawa is hot, pour a ladleful of batter onto the center of the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.

Drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges of the dosa and on the top. Cook the dosa on medium heat until the bottom turns golden brown and crispy. Flip the dosa and cook the other side for a minute or two.

Remove the dosa from the tawa and repeat the process with the remaining batter. You can make dosas of different sizes and shapes as per your preference.

Serve the ragi dosas hot with coconut chutney, sambar, or any chutney of your choice. You can also serve it with a side of potato masala for a more filling meal.

Enjoy your homemade ragi dosas!

Note: You can experiment with the toppings and fillings as per your liking. You can add chopped onions, tomatoes, grated carrots, or any other vegetable of your choice to the dosa batter before cooking. Additionally, you can add chopped green chilies or ginger for a spicier version.
